Leader of União Brasil in the Chamber, federal deputy Elmar Nascimento (BA) completed an agenda on Saturday, 28, in support of the candidacy of Lurdinéia do Zé Branco, a PT member who is running for the position of mayor of the municipality of Andorinha, in the north of Bahia, currently led by Renato Brandão, from the PP, who also supports the PT ticket.
To the sound of “Lula lá”, the deputy posted videos on his Instagram profile, in which he appears on stage at the party’s rally, whose candidate for vice mayor is Dr. Madson, from the PSD.
Elmar also published a photo walking next to the candidate, making an “L” with his hand, a symbol of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) presidential campaign in 2022.
He met with Lula at the beginning of the month, on the 11th, after having lost the support of the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), for the succession of the presidency of the House. Lira now supports deputy Hugo Motta, leader of the Republicans, for his succession, in February next year, when his term ends.
Elmar’s party and the PSD, associated with the PT party that the deputy supports, formed an alliance in the Chamber to face Motta’s candidacy as Lira’s successor. Since August, Elmar has been leader of the largest bloc in the Chamber, made up of 161 parliamentarians from União Brasil, PP, PSDB, Cidadania, PDT, Avante, Solidariedade and PRD.
Lira’s support for him, of whom he is a personal friend, was taken for granted until the beginning of September, when there was a turnaround and a “split” in Centrão.
As found out by EstadãoUnião said it was certain at the beginning of this month that Elmar’s candidacy began to “wither away” when Palácio do Planalto acted, behind the scenes, to trip up the deputy.
However, Elmar continued to move to gain support from Lula and the PT for his candidacy, including voting on the future fuel bill without a “tortoise” that would cause an increase in energy bills, giving signals to Planalto that it will not be a problem for the Executive, in case of a possible mandate.
