The British monarchy plans to fire around twenty people who worked directly for Queen Elizabeth II after her death on September 8, union sources have confirmed.

Mark Serwotkageneral secretary of the Public and Commercial Services union, which represents employees of the royal house, said on Wednesday that members have been “disappointed” to receive the notice letter from the royal treasurer, michael stevens.

In this letter, Stevens warns that, although most of the operations will remain as they have been until now under the reign of Carlos III, several jobs are at risk.
“While it is too early to confirm definitively, a very small minority of employees (less than 20) who provided personal services to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth are anticipated to have their positions affected by her death“, it states.

Stevens indicates that interested parties will be written to inform them of these changes and how they will be carried out.
Last week the press revealed that a hundred jobs are also at risk in the former official residence of the king, Clarence House, which will now focus its management on neighboring Buckingham Palace.
