SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Eletrobras reported that the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) will hold a meeting this Tuesday to deliberate on updating the value added by the company’s new hydroelectric power contracts, as part of the company’s privatization process.
According to Eletrobras, the proposed values of the concession contracts for its hydroelectric plants were updated after a decision by the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).
In a hearing on the 15th, the rapporteur of the company’s privatization process at the TCU, Minister Aroldo Cedraz, ordered the government to make adjustments in calculations involving the added value of the contracts (VAC) of the state-owned company.
In his presentation, Cedraz showed that the VAC, initially estimated at 62.4 billion reais, could fall to 56.8 billion reais with the adjustments indicated by the TCU.
With that, the concession bonus that Eletrobras will pay to the Union for the renewal of hydroelectric concessions, as part of the privatization, could fall from 23.2 billion reais to 20.3 billion reais.
