There will be heavy rains in 18 states of Mexico, including Chiapas, Sinaloa, Oaxaca and Veracruz. These precipitations could be accompanied by electric shocks and hail, according to a statement from the National Meteorological Service.
At 4 in the afternoon (CDMX time), the center of Celia was located 510 kilometers south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, and 655 km west-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco.
Celia has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h, gusts to 110 km/h and a shift to the west-northwest at 13 km/h. This will cause heavy rains in the North of Mexico.
Rains in southeastern Mexico
In the southeastern part of Mexico, Tropical Wave Number 7 will travel during the next few hours, having an interaction with a low pressure channel over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, this will cause very heavy rains of 50 to 75 millimeters of water in Chiapas, Oaxaca and Veracruz.
Likewise, heavy rains with 25 to 50 mm of water are expected in Campeche and Tabasco, and showers in Quintana Roo. These precipitations will be accompanied by electrical discharges and conditions for the fall of hail.
Rains in the North and Center of Mexico
In turn, in the northwest, west and center of the Mexican Republic, the tropical storm celia causes high-level instability in the atmosphere and cloud bands.
This will cause heavy rain accompanied by electric shocks and conditions for falling hail in areas of Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Puebla, Querétaro, Sinaloa, Sonora and Tlaxcala.
Showers are also forecast in the northern regions of the country.
Likewise, there will be gusts of wind of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour (km/h) with waves of 2 to 3 meters (m) in height in costs of Baja California Sur, Jalisco and Nayarit, and waves of 2 m on the coast of Colima and the south of Sinaloa.
