Lipetsk LLC “Motorinvest” became the winner of the competition announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for the conclusion of a special investment contract for the production of electric vehicles. The same contract will be concluded with St. Petersburg-based Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus LLC, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports.
Under the contract, the companies will receive tax breaks and other incentives. They will be engaged in the introduction and development of technology for the production of environmentally friendly urban vehicles based on traction engines.
As writes IA “Abireg” with reference to the Minister of Industry Denis Manturov, the first mass-produced electric car should appear before the end of 2022, and by 2030 about 730 thousand electric vehicles will be produced in Russia.
Previously, Lipetsk Motorinvest was engaged in the production of Changan CS35 crossovers, but in 2019 it abandoned this. In 2021, it was reported that the company intends to start producing electric vehicles. The regional authorities even discussed the organization of the cluster with Motorinvest.
In January, it became known that Sokon electric vehicles would be produced at the Motorinvest plant. It was noted that it is not yet known what specific cars of the brand the company will produce, but it is possible that we are talking about the SF-3 and SF-5 models. These electric vehicles were created with the participation of Martin Eberhard, co-founder of Tesla.
