Helsinki the first electric car charging station will be opened in the city center.

The new charging station will open on Thursday, June 30, in connection with S-market Bulevard. The charging station has a total of six high-power charging points and two basic AC charging points.

Basic chargers for electric cars allow charging with a capacity of 11-22 kilowatts and quick chargers with a maximum charging capacity of 50 kilowatts. High power chargers allow up to 150-200 kilowatts of charging power. Higher charging power allows the electric car to be charged faster.

The entire passenger car fleet in Helsinki was about 227,000 cars, so the share of rechargeable cars was about 6.5 per cent. Around 200 charging points along the streets and in public car parks.
