On the occasion of the Shanghai Auto Show 2021, the sedan-coupe makes its debut Audi A6 e-tron concept: anticipates an innovative range of electric cars based on the EPP electric native platform (Premium Platform Electric). Unlike the Audi A6 TFSI e, the Audi A6 e-tron concept show car relies exclusively on the electric traction and is based on the EPP platform (Premium Platform Electric)developed in collaboration with Porsche under the direction Audi. As for the design, the car is characterized by a radical evolution of the stylistic features of the current A6 family, with which it only shares dimensions.
4.96 meters long, 1.96 meters wide and 1.44 meters high, it incorporates the typical features of Sportback of the four rings. Much more than an exercise in style, the new sedan-coupé anticipates the lines of the future high-end Audi models.

At an aerodynamic level, the show car can count on a CX of 0.22, of reference. The sportiness of the Audi A6 e-tron concept is reiterated by the 22-inch alloy wheelswith reduced overhangs, from the passenger compartment with a contained vertical development and from the tail line in coupe style.

Audi A6 e-tron concept, Matrix LED and OLED headlights
THE thin projectors front and rear light clusters are decidedly slender and perfectly integrated into the surfaces of the bodywork. Audi A6 e-tron concept relies on technologies Matrix LED And OLED. The LEDs are also protagonists along the sides, thanks to three small projectors that when the doors are opened transform the asphalt into a stage: driver and passengers are greeted by multiple light animations and welcome lettering.
The side lights also give life to some warningsfor example ai cyclists arriving when the doors are opening. Four additional LED units, integrated into the corners of the car, display the le on the ground direction indicator signals.
The Matrix LED front headlights generate cinema-quality animations. For example, if the electric show car is parked in front of a wall while charging, the driver and passengers can spend time projecting a video gamespecially conceived and developed for the Audi A6 e-tron concept, and using its own smartphone as a joystick.
As for the rear lights, the concept of the four rings makes use of the OLED technology. The organic light emitting diodes serve as a display in the central area of the continuous light band. Also in this case many can be realized lighting sets and signatures. Specifically, OLEDs are characterized by an innovative three-dimensional architecture able to adapt to the conformation of the bodywork. The night design becomes an integral part of the car’s look and the dynamic light animations are characterized by depth, creating an avant-garde spatial effect.
In addition to the lighting functions, the projectors adapt the light beam according to traffic, weather and environmental conditions, transmitting information, especially danger warnings, also to other road users by means of visual signals.
EPP platform for new Audi electric cars
There PPE platform (Premium Platform Electric)makes use of a battery module located between the axles, in the case of the Audi A6 e-tron concept with capacity of 100 kWh. The size of the battery and the wheelbase of the cars based on the PPE platform are scalable. The platform is therefore suitable for several market segments, keeping as a minimum common denominator the combination of long wheelbase with reduced overhangs, to the advantage of design and, above all, of habitability.
There quattro all-wheel drive is one of the configurations envisaged by the PPE platform and is based on the presence of two electric motors: one at each axle. Specifically, the Audi A6 e-tron concept uses two electric motors that deliver a maximum power of 476 CV it’s a torque of 800 Nm. The schematic of the front is five-armed, while the rear follows a configuration multilink. Suspensions are type adaptive tire.
Audi A6 e-tron concept, range and DC charging up to 270 kW
Similarly to the Audi e-tron GT Granturismo, the battery from 700 km of autonomy Audi’s A6 e-tron concept is characterized by a rated voltage of 800 Volts which allows the charging in direct current (DC) with powers up to 270 kW. A value, the latter, for the first time extended to a large series model and which allows the refueling times of traditional cars to be approached.
It is indeed possible to absorb in 10 minutes enough energy to travel around 300 kilometers WLTPwhile in less than 25 minutes the battery charge level goes from 5% to 80%.
Electric Audi A6 also station wagon
In addition to the Audi A6 e-tron concept, the prototype that anticipates the future Avant electric A6 station wagon was also unveiled. The car’s design is characterized by a radical evolution of the characteristics of the current A6 family. The station wagon is 4.96 meters long, 1.96 meters wide and 1.44 meters high.
On this future electric car theaerodynamics plays a fundamental role, if, in fact, the Audi A6 e-tron sedan-coupe variant can count on a C.X of 0.22 the Avant configuration only deviates by 0.02 points. Reduced aerodynamic drag means lower energy consumption and, consequently, greater autonomy.
The sportiness of the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept is confirmed by the alloy wheels from 22 inchesfrom the reduced overhangs, from the passenger compartment and from the contained vertical development.
The Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept also anticipates the lines of the future high-end models of the Brand and at the same time takes up some stylistic elements that distinguish the current e-tron range such as the closed single frame grille and the light band that connects the groups rear optics.
