Oct 6 (Reuters) – PoderData poll showed that the vast majority of Simone Tebet (MDB) voters in the first round prefer former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the second round of voting, while those who voted for Ciro Gomes (PDT) are more divided between PT and President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The poll showed that Lula would inherit 92% of the senator’s valid votes. In the case of Ciro, the majority, 54%, should go to Bolsonaro and 46% to Lula.
Simone Tebet, who came third in the first round with 4.16% of valid votes, made a statement on Tuesday to declare explicit support for Lula. Ciro – fourth place, with 3.04%, and who criticized the former president more harshly than the senator in the first round – released a video stating, without naming names, that he accepted the PDT’s decision to support the PT.
I APPLY FOR DEMOCRACY
A day after news in the press that he would support Bolsonaro in the second round, former president Michel Temer (MDB) released a note on his social media in which he says he will applaud “the candidacy that defends democracy” and carry out reforms.
“I will applaud the candidacy that defends democracy, strictly adheres to the Constitution, promotes pacification, maintains the reforms already carried out in my government and proposes to the National Congress the reforms that are already on the country’s agenda,” he said.
WE CAN RELEASE
Podemos, which was in Simone Tebet’s presidential coalition in the first round, decided to allow its members to support whoever they want in the vote on the 30th.
“Respecting regional realities, in the second round, the party defined the release of its leaders, mayors, parliamentarians and affiliates to support state and presidential candidacies,” the party said in a statement.
