According to a statement published on the official National Action website, the legislative project of the opposition party to the ruling party is based on the principles of “legality, legitimacy and proportionality of the elections.”

Key points of the electoral reform of the PAN
According to the political actors, the electoral amendment proposed by the PAN seeks, first of all, that the presidential elections in Mexico have a second roundas is done in many countries around the world, including some in Latin America.
“We promote an electoral proposal that strengthens our democracy, that puts controls on the government, achieves a correct representation of the popular mandate in the Chamber of Deputies and generates better conditions of governance,” said the PAN national leader.
Meanwhile, another of the key characteristics of this legislative project is the fact that it is established as cause of nullity of the electoral elections the intervention of organized crime groups that operate in the Mexican Republic, thus is the “slightest indication” of the participation of these criminal groups in the electoral elections.
Likewise, the PAN proposes the formal regulation of coalition governmentsthat is to say, that the participation within an administration of the different parties that, united, came to occupy public office, be determined in a timely manner.
“That a coalition government is not only the electoral product of an electoral coalition, but that the political forces that made up that electoral coalition are the ones that also make the main public policy decisions,” said Romero Herrera.
For its part, the PAN electoral reform seeks that any Mexican citizen who wants to participate in internal elections of the political parties to choose their standard-bearers, can do so.
“That now any citizen who wants to participate to elect a candidate can do so and what we are proposing, in the specific case of a coalition, is that they be the people registered in the lists of the political parties that will have to coalesce, plus a registry that we would order from the National Electoral Institute”, detailed the federal deputy.
Finally, this electoral amendment proposal establishes as a criminal offense the violation of the article 134 of the Mexican Constitutionwhich indicates that, “if you are a federal, state or municipal government and you are in the middle of an electoral process, you cannot refer to that election.
