If we had been told a few years ago that one day, a From Software title would sell more than Call of Duty, at the very least we would have laughed with embarrassment. Still, this year it should happen. According to the latest estimates by the analysis agency NPD, there seems to be no match in the US market, with the new work by Hidetaka Miyazaki that simply beat the competition.
With over 13 million copies sold worldwide, Elden Ring it was a success across the board and a symbol of this unfinished 2022. On the other hand, we have the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2sequel to the reboot that took place in 2019 and which has the certainty of selling millions of copies just for the name.
This analysis, however, is a bit “distorted”: Elden Ring is already available from February 25th while Modern Warfare 2 will arrive only on October 28th. It’s not impossible, but imagining selling 15 million copies in two months seems a bit risky. In the meantime, however, the work From Software has still surpassed Vanguard and still makes us understand the extent of the resounding success of the title.
