Invasions in Elden Ring work in more ways than one: hackers are on the prowl.
If you thought the bosses of Elden Ring will be your biggest problem in the Interregnum, you were wrong, at least if you are a PC player: a serious security flaw in the matchmaking of Dark Souls 3 which has never been patched returns to Elden Ring matchmaking.
Since the two games are largely based on the same code, it was also predictable: in Dark Souls 3 the exploit allows players who come into contact with your session through invasions to send command lines to your computers that allow them from find your passwords and bank details, but also simply lock your computer and leave you gods malware also suitable for mining cryptocurrencies using your precious video card.
And if in Dark Souls 3 the community response was incredibly fast, to the point that a mod (the Blue Sentinel – perfect name, if you know the role of the Sentinels of Blue in Dark Souls, ed) has been updated to prevent the use of this exploit, it is also true that having found such a flaw in Elden Ring also puts From Software in an awkward position.
However, in the Reddit post explaining the matter there is also a comment from the account of Bandai Namco which reassures that the problem has been acknowledged and that it will hopefully be solved before the launch of the most anticipated work of 2022.
