Discontent is growing in Iran after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old girl who died in mysterious circumstances after being detained by morality police officials, accused of not wearing the Islamic veil “correctly”. Her death was the starting point for numerous protests in different cities of the country. Some of the demonstrations are led by young women, a new generation that did not witness the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
As a result of citizen unrest, the Iranian government announced that it had launched an investigation into the case of the death of the young Mahsa Amini, a death that has aroused international condemnation for the treatment the young woman received and for once again exposing the what women in Iran are exposed to. It is the topic of conversation in this edition of El Debate with our guests:
– Zahida Membrado, journalist, was a correspondent in Iran.
– Marta González Isidoro, journalist and political analyst specializing in the Middle East.
