Jaimito, the beloved postman from the series “El chavo del 8”, came to the neighborhood to become one of the favorite characters thanks to his charisma and despite his short time on stage. After several years, more than one wonders what happened to the interpreter Raul ‘Chato’ Padilla.
Through “El Diario del Chavo del 8”, Roberto Gómez Bolaños recounted the tragic end of the actor who suddenly stopped appearing on stage. Both his companions and the actors were perplexed by the news: he had died as a result of the diabetes he suffered from.
“Jaimito did not leave his house at all. I realized this because I had been waiting for him to come down so he could see that I can now jump from the fifth step of the ladder, but nothing. So I went upstairs to see if anything was wrong. And what happened was that he was already dead, ”said the director.
“He had his eyes closed, as if he was just asleep. And it even seemed as if he was dreaming something nice, because he had a happy face. But it can’t be, because there’s no way he’d be happy to die. Or who knows, because Jaime Garabito always said that he preferred to avoid fatigue… that is, he has already avoided fatigue forever, ”he concluded.
Raúl Padilla recorded more than 40 films, making a name for himself in the industry and becoming a great friend of Gómez Bolaños. He died on February 3, 1994 at the age of 75, due to the diabetes he suffered from.
