The Sinergia 40 of the Club de Regatas de Cartagena adds another two partial victories in the coastal test to the island of Tabarca with 30.7 nautical miles of travel
‘El Carmen Elite Sails’ has taken an important step on this second day of the 25th Tabarca Vela Trophy Alicante Provincial Council, in which the return to the island of Tabarca was scheduled. A test with double points, since a flying goal was planned on the island in which a classification was established and on arrival the absolute general of this third test, after the two completed on Friday.
The start was punctual and once again José Coello’s Sinergia 40 was somewhat conservative, in the center of the fleet, although falling towards the viewer. That good start allowed him to get into a comfortable position to face the first section of the coastal regatta, with a mark located in Cabo Huertas and from there head towards the island.
With a long, direct and very grounded board, ‘El Carmen Elite Sails’ arrived at the Cape Huertas beacon, maintaining a beautiful battle in real time with the First 40.7 ‘Kim’ and in its wake the ‘Tanit IV Medilevel’ (Grand Soleil 37) and ‘Nemox’ (X35).
After that step, the fleet was stretching a lot, as expected, so the Cartagena Regatas Club boat looked for the best wind conditions and more pressure, something else was out. That good tactical decision allowed him to get there quite quickly, spending just over two hours in those first 13.8 miles, ahead of him there were 16.9 miles to finish in the vicinity of the Alicante club.
Four out of four
With the times compensated, ‘El Carmen Elite Sails’ added another two partial wins. He already has four out of four in Alicante, and is getting closer and closer to achieving victory in the 25th Tabarca Vela Trophy Alicante Provincial Council in the ORC 3 class, as he has an important advantage of 4.5 points over the second: ‘ Tanit IV Medilevel ‘, in the absence of today’s session, with two windward-leeward races.
The provisional bronze in this category is for another ship in the Region, also sailing on the RCR of Cartagena. ‘Nemox’ is third with 10 points in his locker, and with options to change the color of the metal, from bronze to silver, since the difference with the second is only 2 points.
