One of those arrested threatened a supermarket security guard with a firearm
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the ‘Ruino’ operation, carried out an investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators of several
continuous robberies, committed in homes and public establishments in San Javier, which resulted in the dismantling of an experienced criminal organization, whose eight members were arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery (7), robbery with intimidation with a firearm, fraud and belonging to a criminal organization. The Civil Guard recovered part of the stolen objects, among which are
jewels valued at 2,000 euros.
The investigation began last April, when the Benemérita had news of a series of robberies, committed both in houses in the urban area of San Javier and in other suburbs, perpetrated continuously and with a similar pattern.
While these crimes were being investigated, in June, other robberies in commercial establishments of the riverside municipality made the agents suspect that it could be a criminal group that directed its criminal actions to all types of buildings in the area, which it did suppose a
prior knowledge of the environment. The agents collected evidence, as well as recordings of video surveillance cameras from some of the businesses attacked, which allowed them to know their ‘modus operandi’ and data on their physical characteristics.
Apparently it was
a group of young people traveling at dawn, on electric scooters or mopeds, armed with work clothes. After recognizing the less illuminated and little traveled areas, they discreetly approached their objectives, which they accessed by breaking doors, bars or blinds to get all kinds of easily transportable objects. The agents verified that these same individuals could be related to a series of
defaults at gas stations in San Pedro del Pinatar.
They used a firearm to intimidate a supermarket watchman
The investigation took a turn when, in mid-June, one of the suspects threatened the security guard of a commercial establishment in San Javier with a firearm. This fact revealed the recklessness and aggressiveness of the assailants, and
generated social alarm among neighbors and businessmen of the area.
The evidence obtained by the investigators was bearing fruit until they managed to identify, one by one, each of the alleged members of the criminal group, all of them linked to the world of crime and settled in the municipalities of San Javier, Los Alcázares and San Miguel de las Salinas (Alicante).
After several months of investigation and determining the degree of participation of each one of them in the different robberies, the Benemérita detained, in a staggered manner, eight people. One of the arrests took place in a home in Los Alcázares, when its resident tried to flee across the rooftops to avoid arrest, while the alleged leader was located in an isolated house in Lorca, a place to which he had moved to take refuge. upon learning, supposedly, the string of arrests of his accomplices.
The detainees – of Spanish (7) and Swedish nationalities, aged between 18 and 41 years, neighbors of San Javier, Los Alcázares and San Miguel de las Salinas (A) -, the effects recovered and the proceedings carried out have been placed at the disposal of the San Javier Investigative Court, which has ordered the entry into preventive prison of one of those arrested.
