Although it was ‘only’ Press Day, that of 23 November at Fiera Milano Rho was an opportunity to see how in the world of two wheels there is no pandemic so big as to stop progress, technology, inventiveness. . EICMA 2021 is a show that wants to start again to the maximum, shaking off digital events and thanking vaccines and green passes, without which it would have been impossible to allow the event. The mask is a must, and it is never easy to get used to making conversation and meeting new people with personal protective equipment: but after all, as a famous journalist said, “Helmet on your head well fastened, lights on even during the day, and prudence, always “.
Pietro Meda, president of Eicma, stressed the aspect of the event to be held all together, to be opened to the public, trusting that the virus stays away from the thoughts of visitors. “There is a need to maintain a direct relationship with the public. Digital initiatives keep interest alive, but lack physical and emotional contact with products. If there is one characteristic that distinguishes the two-wheeler industry, it is precisely that of loyalty to its people. Today we are back in the presence and we still make Milan the world capital of two wheels“.
The live event is back in fashion, because today it can be organized and because, in fact, talking to each other in front of a computer is not the best. Meda recalled that EICMA is also «a a tribute to the passion and determination of the sector. I am very proud of the result obtained, which is not unexpected because behind it there was a two-year work, very intense and important.“.
The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, was also present at the inauguration. He said: “It will certainly be a very topical exhibition. The expected audience will be 30% less than in 2019, but it’s already great. By now in this moment of fairs there are very few, here with courage and prudence, we are leaving again“.
