Even the Piaggio group arrived en masse atEICMA 2021 and certainly his stand will be one of the most visited and interesting for the public. During the first day, reserved for the press, the new Aprilia SR GT model stood out, representing a new challenge for the brand that is also a protagonist in MotoGP.
The new SR GT is to all intents and purposes a scooter. However it is the first ‘urban adventure‘of Aprilia, designed to give those who drive it greater thrills in the midst of daily city traffic. And not only that: in fact, if the urban part is typical of the scooter, the ‘adventure’ theme remains to be covered, which in this bike is represented by some contents inspired by the world of enduro.
On the new Aprilia SR GT the active riding position and the handlebar naked, wider and in a motorcycle style, according to the manufacturer, under the control of the Piaggio group, they offer greater stability. At the same time, the long-travel suspension and increased ground clearance allow you to overcome the obstacles of city driving. The comfort elements are completed by tires, with a generous section and with ‘all terrain’ tread pattern, useful in case of slippery road or, why not, on dirt roads.
From the point of view of the engine, two Euro 5 units with electronic injection, with four-valve distribution and liquid cooling from the i-get family were chosen. Alongside the single-cylinder i-get of 125 cc, credited with a maximum power of 11 kW at 8,750 rpm and a torque that reaches 12 Nm at 6500 rpm, on Aprilia SR GT 200 the unpublished 174 cc single cylinder makes its debut, which boasts an output of 13 kW at 8,500 rpm and a torque of 16.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. With this latter unit, maximum performance should also be guaranteed in terms of torque and smooth running.
