The confrontations of Zamalek and Al Hilal do not happen much, given the first competition in the continental championships in Africa, while Al-Azraq compete in the Asian championships, and they meet only with an agreement between the Egyptian and Saudi Federation to organize the Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup, or other friendly meetings.
What does history say?
Al-Hilal faced Zamalek 5 times, the beginning was Saudi, followed by Egyptian control, and the last confrontation between the two teams witnessed the victory of the white team over its blue counterpart.
The first match between the two teams dates back to 2004 in the Arab Champions League, and at that time the Saudi team won a clean double signed by Sami Al-Jaber and Traore.
The second confrontation in the same tournament witnessed a draw with one goal for each team, and Hazem Emam opened Zamalek’s goals against Al Hilal, while Gato Cisse scored for the Saudi team.
The following three matches witnessed the victory of Zamalek. The first victory came in the same edition of the 2004 Arab Champions League, in the bronze medal match, and Zamalek won by three goals to two.
Zamalek’s goals came through Ahmed Saleh, Bashir Al-Tabi’i and Mohamed Siddiq, and the duo, Mohamed Al-Shalhoub and Ahmed Al-Sweileh, scored for Al-Hilal.
The second victory for Zamalek occurred in 2015 in a friendly match that ended with the Egyptian team with two clean goals, scored by Ahmed Eid Abdel Malik and Ahmed Ali.
The third victory for Al-Abyad was in the last confrontation between the two teams, in 2018, where the Marsool Park Stadium hosted the two teams in the Egyptian Saudi Super Cup, and Zamalek won 2-1 against Al-Hilal.
The double of Zamalek came through Hamdi Al-Naqaz and Kabongo Kasongo, and Al-Hilal’s only goal was scored by Omar Khirbin, in a meeting with the happiest Egyptian community in Saudi Arabia, and frustrated the host fans.
The Lusail Super Cup will be the sixth confrontation between the two teams, in an experiment sponsored by the International Football Association “FIFA” and its Qatari counterpart, for the World Cup final stadium, which will be held from November 20 to December 18 this year.
