The Egyptian President’s advisor for health affairs said, in exclusive statements to “Sky News Arabia”, that the Egyptian health authorities are still studying the file of immunizing children with the Pfizer vaccine so far, especially since it is the only vaccine that has been approved globally to vaccinate children with it.
And at the beginning of this month, the Egyptian Ministry of Health allowed registration for the Pfizer vaccine for children from 15 years old, after it was only allowed from the age of 18, but so far it has not started vaccinating those who registered their data on the electronic platform.
The Egyptian government said that this step comes after providing 8 million doses of the virus vaccine, as it has obtained international approval from the scientific authorities concerned with its safety for those under the age of 18.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States has recommended that children aged 5 to 15 receive the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine, while several countries have already begun vaccinating children.
“The health authorities are continuing to scrutinize this file, and study the scientific references and data related to it, and when the file is completed in Egypt, a date will be set for vaccinating children,” Taj al-Din said.
The fourth wave of corona
Al-Sisi’s advisor stressed that the country is still living in the fourth wave of the Corona pandemic so far.
He explained that Egypt has not yet crossed the peak of the fourth wave of Corona, adding: “In order to confirm that we have passed the peak, we need a constant number of infections for several consecutive days, then the decline begins, and then we say that we have passed the peak of this wave.”
He stressed that the daily injuries to Corona are still in the range of 900 cases per day.
In the latest official census, the ministry announced, on Saturday, 909 new cases, raising the total of patients to 336,582 cases, of whom 282,514 were cured, and 62 new deaths, bringing the total victims of the epidemic to 19,011.
