The Attorney General, Hamada Al-Sawy, issued a decision, on Wednesday, to refer four defendants to criminal trial in the case of taking bribes.
According to the Public Prosecution’s statement, the first accused took 5 million pounds, including 600,000 pounds for himself, as a bribe from the owners of a private hospital through two other defendants, in exchange for using his influence to obtain decisions and benefits from officials in the Ministry of Health.
The statement added that these advantages and decisions are related to the failure to implement the decision to close the hospital to its management without a license, and to prepare a forged report that proves – contrary to the truth – that there are no violations in it, and the fourth suspect has been charged with committing that fraud.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution established evidence of the case with 13 witnesses, including the owners of the hospital, who informed the Administrative Control Authority of the bribery incident upon its request and took the bribe with the permission of the Public Prosecution until his arrest was complete.
According to the statement, the two defendants confessed to committing the incident, and they mediated the bribery, and the seized mobile phones of the defendants were examined and the correspondences that confirmed the commission of the incident.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution reviewed all the hospital’s inspection reports, both correct and forged, and reviewed bank documents proving the fact that the bribery amount was submitted, in addition to the Public Prosecution’s watching and listening to the meetings and conversations that it authorized their recording.
And she was Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed She entered the hospital in late October as a result of a health crisis, coinciding with the Public Prosecution’s announcement of an investigation with officials in the Ministry of Health on unnamed accusations, after many news circulated about the seizure of a major bribery and corruption case in the Ministry by the Administrative Control.
The Minister of Higher Education, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, is responsible for running the ministry’s work so far.
