A security source said that river and water rescue forces in Giza were participating in the search for survivors, revealing that the minibus was carrying a large number of passengers, whose number is not yet known.
The source added, in an exclusive statement to “Sky News Arabia”, that “a microbus was in the direction of Rawd al-Faraj and collided with the iron fence of the bridge, which led to its fall into the Nile.”
The official of the Civil Protection Operations Room received a signal from the Emergency Police Department that a taxi overturned and fell from the top of the Coastal Bridge.
The initial inspection revealed that while a microbus was traveling in the direction of Rawd al-Faraj, the steering wheel was disrupted in the hands of its driver.
The car collided with the iron fence and fell into the Nile River below the bridge, amid efforts by rescuers to retrieve the passengers, and the necessary report was issued about the incident and the Public Prosecution was notified.
