On the afternoon of this Wednesday, April 24, the death of Fernando Fernández García, former municipal president of Ixtapalucawho lost his life after being shot in the State of Mexico.
According to initial reports, Fernández was intercepted by individuals traveling on a motorcycle, and at least 10 shell casings were found at the scene of the incident. The crime scene was cordoned off by security forces after the attack.
Minutes later, the president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and federal representative, Ana Lilia Herrera, confirmed the death of Fernando Fernández through her social networks, where she also demanded justice in the case.
In a message on X, Herrera expressed his condemnation of the murder of the former president and demanded a prompt response from the authorities and zero impunity.
Identification of alleged perpetrators
Images spread on social networks show two individuals, apparently involved in the attackdressed in sweatshirts and with their faces covered, who are presumed to be the attackers.
The authorities also reported that the alleged attackers were traveling on at least three different motorcycles, which were seen around 3:30 in the afternoon in the José de la Mora subdivision, in the community of Ayotla, and it is suspected that they were a direct attack against Fernández García.
Although witnesses alerted authorities about the attack, emergency teams found that Fernando Fernández no longer had vital signs when they arrived at the scene.
