Helsinki’s sudden migration loss to neighboring cities may subside as the coronavirus pandemic subsides. However, the situation says something essential about the housing aspirations of a thirty city dweller.
Helsinki has been the biggest loser in internal migration in Finland at the beginning of the year.
In the first half of 2021, the domestic migration loss to Helsinki was 3,300 people. The capital’s population declined for the first time in years, although birth rates and immigration increased slightly.
