Editorial Birth rates in Finland can be turned upwards, but attitudes must change

Policy makers can do a lot for families with children, but attitudes need to change more broadly. Society as a whole needs to show that every child is welcome and dignified.

Low Birth rate is a serious problem and at the same time a sensitive issue that is not remedied, at least by talking about childbirth.

Having children is everyone’s personal decision, but decisions are not made in a vacuum. Society can have a big impact on demographics.
