Earth’s core could COOL faster than expected: Scientific study

Mexico.- The Earth’s core cools faster than predicted, determined at the beginning of 2022 a team of scientists from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and the Carnegie Institution of Science, in the United States.

The Earth’s core has remained extremely hot for more than 4.5 million yearsindispensable for life as we know it in its different forms.

That is why the group of scientists has decided to study primordial processes to make a better interpretation of what happens in the center of the world.

Professionals consider that the key to understanding the phenomenon are the minerals that carry heat from the core of the Earth to the upper areas. One of the primary compounds is bridgmanite, a very dense mixture of iron and magnesium silicates, with the formula SiO₃.

Bridgmanite can only exist under great pressure, starting at a depth of 700 km. Although there are no technologies for digging and testing in depth, Motohiko Murakami, a professor at ETH, conducted a study in the laboratory.

“This measurement system allowed us to show that bridgmanite’s thermal conductivity is about 1.5 times higher than previously assumed“, published the teacher in a statement.

What the researcher determined reveals that the heat flux from the Earth’s core to the mantle is greater than what they contemplated. This suggests that, the more heat passes from the bottom to the top, the faster the center of the planet cools.

My name is Juan Pablo Chaidez Aispuro, born in Culiacán, Sinaloa into a small family that originally consisted of four people: father, mother and two children. From my early years I showed a taste for watching the news and staying informed. I was a graduate of the 2014 – 2018 generation of the degree in Journalism, from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), the first in that career since its opening. Regarding professional experience, I was able to gain learning during a period of six months in the sports area of the Noroeste newspaper, where I did professional internships. Later, I had the opportunity to spend another six months in the ranks of Radio Sinaloa, particularly in the news program Informativo Puro Sinaloa, of the state government. There I covered local issues, recorded voice for the newscast, contributed content for other broadcasts and had live participation. Since 2020 I have been in Debate, a company that opened the doors for me to integrate as a web reporter, and months later to hold the position of Editor on the Debate.com.mx site.
