A magnitude 6 earthquake has been recorded near Sado Island, in northwestern Japan. The Kyodo agency reported this, citing the country's meteorological agency, according to which the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. A tsunami warning has not been issued at this time.
Meanwhile, the toll of the earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale which struck the western coast of Japan on New Year's Day has worsened further: the confirmed victims, according to Kyodo, are 202, while 102 people are still missing.
