Dying Light 2 it is definitely one of those games maybe not at the top of the attention but that nonetheless everyone watches with interest: the parkour, the open and vertical maps, the frenzy made the gameplay of the first title almost iconic, mixing together various characteristic elements of other titles to create a new compelling product.
The game it’s making you wait: it was initially scheduled for release towards the end of 2021 and later it was postponed to next year (as we have already told you in our dedicated article), arousing doubts and uncertainties of many fans or onlookers. The doubts arise mainly from the technical aspect, from which the public expects a lot. Parkour had already been shown in a video trailer some time ago (find everything here), but let’s say that this alone is not enough.
It is indeed necessary that there be a right amalgam of the technical side and the world / situations where it can be applied. If, for example, parkour were compelling but the map extremely limited, technical power alone would not be enough to fill the dissatisfaction; and precisely to answer these doubts, today on the official YouTube channel of Dying Light 2 has been gameplay video released showing various elements.
As already mentioned above, what is shown in the video seems to want to reassure players about what they will find inside the game. The mission is titled “A Place to Call Home” and will probably be one of the first quests we will face. If the intent was to reassure those who are waiting for the release of the dubious title, the goal has been achieved: in the 16-minute gameplay, Dying Light 2 puts the fifth and in no time manages to present a surprising variety of situations.
What is striking, besides the decidedly cleaner graphics than the previous game released in 2015, is precisely the mix of different gameplay sections one so close to the other: you go from stealth situations to frenetic climbing, then launching from a building and arriving on the other side of the neighborhood with the glider and continuing the journey.
This specific mission was probably chosen to include both the game mechanics within it, and to showcase the vastness of the world they are working on and how this is not purely aesthetic but actively participates in the story, of how it can be explored and interacted with.
