The zoo of the German city of Duisburg, near the border with the Netherlands, has lost a red panda. Zoo Duisburg posted a message on Facebook asking to look out for the animal.
Jang has been searched for since Thursday morning. The zoo assumes that the tiny panda, about 50 centimeters tall and 5 kilos in weight, is hidden somewhere in one of the treetops in the park, but the employees have no idea how the animal managed to leave its enclosed property.
The zoo assures that Jang is harmless. If people see him nearby, they should call the police and not try to catch it themselves.
Red pandas are found in the wild only in the mountain forests of China. Like giant pandas, they mainly eat bamboo. Only a few thousand of the endangered species remain in the wild.
