Superbike is back on track this weekend for the fifth round of the season, which becomes crucial for the Ducati Aruba team, determined to redeem itself after the negative weekend in Donington. On the Dutch track, Scott Redding aims to mend the large gap in the standings that was created with the missteps at Misano first and then in Great Britain, setting great goals for himself.
The Briton of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team has fond memories of Assen, here he won two consecutive podiums in 2012 and 2013 when he was racing in Moto2 and again on this track he climbed for the first time on the podium in MotoGP in 2016, precisely with Ducati. Strengthened by this past, Redding arrives at the Dutch round with great determination and the main objective is to reduce the 67 points that separate him from the leader Toprak Razgatlioglu.
“I am ready to race on a circuit that in the past has given me great emotions – says Redding on the eve of the Assen round – The TT is a circuit with a great history where I have always enjoyed racing. For the first time in almost two years we will have the opportunity to compete in races in front of a large audience and this will be a great boost for me. I have many friends in the Netherlands and I consider this round a sort of “Home-GP”. I can’t wait to hit the track on Friday ”.
After Donington’s disappointment, Michael Ruben Rinaldi also wants redemption. The rider from Romagna wants to return to the form of Misano, in which he exalted the public on the track with stratospheric victories. The Ducati rider’s idea is to put the English round behind him and fight again for the podium and, why not, for success.
“I am happy to arrive in Assen on a circuit that I like very much – says Rinaldi – I have a great desire to redeem the weekend at Donington which was not positive. We have made some progress in recent months, we have found speed but the English circuit has somehow highlighted our weaknesses. In Holland we have to find the confidence we had at Misano. I am sure that this is a favorable track both for me and for the characteristics of the bike ”.
