BMW M Motorsport has unveiled the drivers who will take part in the 2022 DTM season with the new BMW M4 GT3.
Two cars will be managed each by the Schubert Motorsport and Walkenhorst Motorsport teams: the first two will go to the confirmed Sheldon Van Der Linde and the returning Philipp Eng, while the others will be entrusted to the certainty of Marco Wittmann and the new acquisition Esteban Muth.
“Entering the DTM for Schubert Motorsport is a great milestone and a pride – said team principal Torsten Schubert – It is one of the most beautiful series in the world and the races have always been of the highest professional level”.
His colleague, Henry Walkenhorst, also agrees: “2021 was positive, we achieved two victories and podiums, so we can start from there with the new BMW M4 GT3s. We are very proud to field them this year”.
Franciscus Van Meel, CEO of BMW M, added: “The DTM is an important reference platform not only for the sport, but also for the brand. We are excited to be present on the most beautiful circuits in the world and in the best races, also undertaking related activities “.
Andreas Roos, new head of BMW M Motorsport, commented: “We are thrilled to see our new M4s in the GT3 sprint races with the DTM, a very high level series in which we will be taking part with two very experienced teams.”
