After acquiring the rights to the DTM for 2023, ADAC has published the calendar for the next season also defining the role that the series will have in its structure.
First of all, the format of the Sprint races is confirmed with the mandatory pit stop to change the tyres; these will be supplied by Pirelli, while as regards fuel, an agreement was reached with Shell to use a synthetic petrol made up of 50% renewable components, already present in the GT Masters.
The cost containment measures for teams and manufacturers involved in the championship will be announced soon, with SRO Motorsports Group taking care of the data to define the Balance of Performance. In accordance with Stéphane Ratel’s structure there will be no coincidences with the GT World Challenge calendar.
Meanwhile the ADAC GT Masters, which also uses GT3 cars, will retain its racing format for now, but discussions are ongoing with the ACO which will lead to the birth of a new DTM Endurance in the future, with cars from the aforementioned series that will participate in six or seven events together with those of the Prototype Cup Germany.

“The DTM is highly regarded internationally and enjoys an excellent reputation across borders, but the heart of the DTM beats in Germany – said ADAC Sport President Gerd Ennser – Shortly after acquiring the rights to the brand, we concerned with enabling teams to plan with certainty; to do that, it was important to focus on the core market.”
“ADAC is taking on a great legacy and will continue to organize the DTM, with its cross-cutting appeal, as a strong international brand on the European motorsport scene. With future-oriented and sustainable structures, we are creating a great platform for German motorsport “.
This is why in the 2023 DTM calendar there will be no races outside Germany and Austria (except one in the Netherlands), which in recent seasons had also led the series to races in Russia, Portugal, Belgium and Italy thanks to the events staged at Monza, Misano and Imola.
There are 8 appointments and they will start at the end of May from Oschersleben to reach the end of October in Hockenheim. In between are the rounds at Zandvoort, Norisring, Nürburgring, Lausitzring, Sachsenring and Spielberg.
