David Schumacher will make his DTM debut for the 2022 season.
The German, son of Ralf and grandson of Michael, joins Winward Racing to drive the Mercedes-AMG GT3, a car he had already had the opportunity to test in the youth tests at the end of last year.
Not an easy task for his first outing with the wheels covered, also because his companions will be the reigning champion, Maximilian Götz, and Lucas Auer, who are Mercedes officers and who in any case will be able to give him a hand in the growth phase.

“I come from a series that is completely different and the GT3s require a much cleaner driving style than the single-seaters given their weight – explains Schumacher – At the beginning the ABS was a shock for me, I didn’t know how to handle it”.
“After that, however, I was able to measure the Mercedes quickly and driving it is a pleasure. I know I will have a lot to learn in an incredibly high level championship.”
“The goal for my first year here is to understand all the details and adapt quickly, with Lucas and Maxi I will have two experienced mates who can help me orient myself.”
Winward team principal Christian Hohenadel added: “We all know the level of the DTM, so from this point of view it is clear that David will have to learn to know everything and everyone.”
“With our experience we will give him the support he needs, but I am convinced that with his talent he will give us satisfaction, also because he knows how to interact with the right team spirit. I am sure he has the right characteristics to face this challenge. “.
