Alexander Albon finally made it. This afternoon, on the German track of the Nurburgring, he achieved his first victory in the DTM, giving the same joy also to Ferrari and the AF Corse team.
After taking pole position this morning, the Thai driver literally dominated the race. The first position got out of hand only because of the pit stop made after 9 laps, but he always remained in virtual command of the race.
Taking back the lead, Albon managed to control the race as he saw fit, until he was the first to pass under the checkered flag. For Alexander it was the return to success after a period of abstinence that lasted from the victory centered in Formula 2 in 2018.
Daniel Juncadella finished second, never having the concrete possibility to worry Albon for the success in this second and final race of the weekend at the Nurburgring. Marco Wittmann, who started third, finished in that position at the wheel of the first BMW.
The fourth final place of Maximilian Gotz is very important, who managed to recover important points on the leader of the drivers’ classification Kelvin van der Linde. Just van der Linde was forced to retire today following a contact with Liam Lawson, while this morning he did a bad qualifying that forced him to start in the midfield scrum.
Now van der Linde is at 129 points against Maximilian Gotz’s 96, first of the pursuers. 33 lengths of advantage remain an excellent booty to be administered in the course of the next rounds of the German series.
