State traffic inspectors will soon be able to instantly calculate drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs using new devices, said the head of the traffic police Mikhail Chernikov. Reported by RIA News…
As explained by Chernikov, the indicators will allow inspectors to determine in a few seconds whether the driver is drunk behind the wheel. According to him, some of these devices can determine the presence of prohibited substances in the human body in saliva, and the other part in the exhaled air. Employees will receive such devices in the near future.
Chernikov added that the device would allow the inspector to “isolate those who used it from the traffic flow,” after which they would be sent for a medical examination. At the same time, the traffic police officer will no longer allow the driver to get behind the wheel.
Earlier, Vladimir Lugovenko, deputy director of the Department of State Policy in the Field of Automobile and Urban Passenger Transport of the Ministry of Transport, proposed limiting the driving speed of electric scooters and gyro scooters in Russia to 20 kilometers per hour. Nikolay Sheyukhin, Deputy Head of the State Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, explained that speed limits will be introduced based on the width of the sidewalk and other factors.
