Drought in Lombardy, agricultural damage is estimated for 400 million
The estimated damage caused by drought in the agricultural sector in Lombardy exceeds 400 million euros. LaPresse learns this from internal sources in the Lombardy Region a few hours after the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the State of emergency until 31 December 2022. The theme of ‘restorations’ for the damage suffered, which opens with the declaration of the State of emergency, it does not immediately concern agriculture but only the costs incurred for emergency interventions used to secure the population or restore the functioning of water and irrigation infrastructures. According to what LaPresse learns, the resources to restore the agricultural world will be discussed and negotiated in a second phase directly with the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies, upon reporting (usually lower than the estimates in these cases or unprovable) and on specific criteria concerning the percentages of crop failures in the fields.
