A physicist from the Charité claims in an interview with “Cicero” that the virologist Drosten misled the public about the true origin of the corona virus. He’s going to court now.
Berlin – The Berlin virologist Christian Drosten is taking legal action against claims that he deliberately misled the public about the origin of the corona pandemic.
According to information from NDR, WDR and the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, the scientist from the Berlin Charité is demanding a desist from the physicist Roland Wiesendanger and the magazine “Cicero”. A Charité spokeswoman confirmed on Friday to the German Press Agency that Drosten was taking legal action. Ralf Hanselle, deputy editor-in-chief of “Cicero”, confirmed receipt of the letter on Friday. “We are currently reviewing the individual points from a legal point of view and will react to them when the time comes.”
At the beginning of February, “Cicero” published an interview with Professor Wiesendanger from Hamburg, in which he accused Drosten of deliberately deceiving society about the origin of the corona pandemic. He also accused other international virologists, who assume that the virus originated in the animal kingdom, of deliberately misleading and covering up.
Wiesendanger himself supports the thesis that Sars-CoV-2 comes from a laboratory in Wuhan. He refers to a conference call in a very early phase of the pandemic, in which Drosten and other virologists allegedly agreed on a natural origin of the corona virus.
The Charité spokeswoman said: “The interview with Mr. Wiesendanger published by “Cicero” contains a large number of incorrect factual allegations that violate Professor Drosten’s personal rights.” The magazine and the scientist were “particularly asked to make false allegations to refrain from the fact that Professor Drosten misled the public about the origin of the virus and participated in alleged cover-up actions”. dpa
