On Tuesday, January 9, the governor of the Oryol region Andrei Klychkov announced the fall of two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on a fuel and energy complex (FEC) facility in Oryol. He clarified that as a result of the attack, a fire occurred, which was quickly localized.
“Emergency services are at the scene of the incident, the situation is under full control,” the politician noted and called on local residents to remain vigilant.
Three people were injured in a kamikaze drone attack
According to local authorities, three people were injured “during an attack by enemy UAVs” on the oil depot. All of them suffered moderate damage to their health. They were provided with the necessary medical care. At the same time, according to Klychkov, two victims refused hospitalization.
Telegram channel “112”, citing an informed source, reported that the second drone strike hit the Orelenergo enterprise. According to the channel's interlocutor, glass was broken in one of the buildings. As a result, several people got cuts.

Approximately 44 minutes after the first report of the drone attack, at 15:36, the governor of the Oryol region spoke about the fall of the third UAV.

Ukrainian Armed Forces drones have previously made attempts to attack oil depots in other regions
On the night of December 4, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked an oil depot in Lugansk, as a result of which one of the tanks caught fire. According to the Telegram channel “Mash in Donbass,” while extinguishing the fire, rescuers had to hide from Ukrainian kamikaze drones that were circling over the facility. While air defense systems shot down the drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, firefighters retreated to a safe distance, after which they began extinguishing the fire again.
In November 2023, Ukrainian drones attempted to attack an oil depot in Crimean Feodosia. The devices were of aircraft type. As Baza found out, the drones, whose target was an offshore oil terminal, were shot down with small arms fire. One of the UAVs exploded in the air. Its wreckage was found in a field 400 meters from the oil depot. Another drone crashed on the terminal grounds and detonated as it fell. As a result, the metal structure of the building of one of the local electrical substations was damaged, but no one was injured.
In September, a Ukrainian aircraft-type drone crashed near an oil depot in Ryazan. His target could have been a Russian oil depot. As a result, the drone was suppressed by electronic warfare and the attack attempt was thwarted. According to Shot, the drone, which lost contact, fell and crashed, but did not explode. No injuries or damage were recorded.
