The experts highlight the importance of creating synergies and alliances that increase the strength of the Murcian productive fabric and enhance its innovation
The last two years have substantially accelerated digitization. The pandemic, which forced many companies to close their physical spaces and interact with suppliers, workers and customers online, managed to demonstrate that technology is the main ally of the productive fabric in an increasingly globalized world.
The power of these new tools, the challenges they pose and the benefit they represent for the efficiency of any company are some of the aspects that were highlighted yesterday during the ‘In-depth digitization’ conference, an event organized by the Isaac Peral Foundation and the Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs of Murcia (Fremm). The event, aimed at industrial, driving and technological companies, both consolidated and startups with avant-garde proposals, counted for its opening with the presence of the president of the Region, Fernando López Miras, who highlighted “the support of the regional government to the fabric production and those measures that involve growth and innovation to develop ourselves». This support was highlighted with figures by indicating that the Community “has allocated more than 500 million euros to R&D&i within the framework of the Digitization Strategy since 2014″, he indicated, while stressing that the Institute of Promotion of the Region of Murcia, Info, «since 2015 and until May of this year, a total of 1,742 aid files have been approved, aimed at promoting R&D&i, which have mobilized technological investments worth more than 110 millions of euros”.
In this work to digitize the Region, the Isaac Peral Foundation has a lot to say. Its president, Alfonso Corbalán, highlighted during the opening of the event the importance of the entity as a source of knowledge in the field of industrial digitization “that allows us to make decisions and that can also help the regional government to develop the best initiatives taking into account the opinion of the companies”. This declaration of intent was also shared by the president of the Fremm, Alfonso Hernández, who emphasized the need to promote cooperation between Murcian tractors and technology companies, “because that allows companies to accelerate their results and, therefore, their capacity investment”.
Joaquín Ruiz announces the creation of the Murcia Region Digital Transformation Agency
Precisely to accelerate the incursion of the latest technologies into the productive fabric, the Isaac Peral Foundation commissioned the Official Association of Telecommunications Engineers of the Region of Murcia, Coiterm, to prepare the ‘Study on digitization and technological needs of the industry of the Region of Murcia’. During the meeting, the deputy dean of the College, Salvador Gómez, reviewed the report, of which he mainly highlighted the SWOT analysis prepared. Among the strengths, the professional referred to the large number of knowledge transfer centers there are, regional aid or the advantage that Murcia is a single-province community, because it favors the concentration of businesses and enables synergies. All this contrasts with a great weakness “motivated by the large presence of SMEs, which if they do not have financial support from the regional government or external financing they cannot undertake,” he lamented.
Regarding the threats, Gómez highlighted the economic crisis derived from the coronavirus and the geopolitical uncertainty, “which influences at the regional, national and international levels because everything is globalized”, which contrasts with the opportunities provided by “the economic funds that are arriving and the option of taking advantage of the circular economy that is being generated to promote business growth in Murcia”, he stressed.
Finally, he recalled the difficulty in finding professionals trained in the field of ICT, which is why he advocated encouraging Murcian talent to stay and work in the Region.
a new administration
Digitization is a dead letter without the public administrations, in charge of leading a transition of which they must also be a part. In the Region, carrying out this step from the public to the ‘online’ is the work of the Integra Digital Foundation. Its managing director, Joaquín Ruiz, was in charge of presenting the Region of Murcia Digital Agenda to the attendees, a strategy from 2022 to 2027 that has a public investment of almost 600 million euros and with which it is intended to “improve the quality of citizens’ lives through digitization,” he said.
The plan includes five axes (citizenship; companies; ‘e-government’; digital infrastructures and cybersecurity) and contemplates initiatives in areas as disparate as society (fight against the digital divide and promoting the incorporation of women into Steam areas), health (digitization of health records and automation to improve human resources), education (modernization of available applications and fight against cyberbullying), tourism (positioning of Murcia as a smart tourist destination) and industry (promotion of the digitization of the primary sector and empowerment of the audiovisual field), among others. As part of these actions, Ruiz announced the creation of the Digital Transformation Agency, “to dynamize all the policies related to these matters across the board. With it we want to achieve a more agile digital administration and we hope to present it before the end of the year », he pointed out.
A roadmap for the coming years is what also marks the actions of Info. The Business Innovation technician Carlos Miras was in charge of presenting Industry 5.0, an operational strategy until 2027 that aims to “provoke a change in the production model and promote collaboration between companies and machines”, indicated the professional, with the aim of “customizing products, improving production processes and making them more efficient and sustainable”, he summarized.
The initiative is the continuation of the successful Industry 4.0 and is focused on five axes: cybersecurity; digital and technological training; technology and people; regional ecosystem 5.0 and communication and governance. Among the measures it encompasses are training programs for active employees, carrying out diagnostic plans to see the state of companies in digital matters, the creation of a direct financing program for cybersecurity audits worth 2 million euros and the communication of success stories so that it is known what technologies are currently being applied.
connection tool
Uniting leading and technological companies is the fundamental objective of the new portal that the Isaac Peral Foundation presented at the event, called the Open Innovation Platform (IPOI). On this website, the tractors that belong to the Foundation can announce the technological challenges they must face and will receive proposals from interested entrepreneurs to solve these challenges. In the future, IPOI will be available to the entire Murcian productive fabric.
The initiative, which was presented by Juan Antonio López Abadía, member of the board of directors of the Isaac Peral Foundation, is “a computer tool to make that connection between the ecosystem and the needs of companies. Opportunities arise from these collaborations », he predicted.
All this amalgamation of knowledge came to an end with the closing ceremony carried out by the Minister of Business, Employment, Universities and Spokesperson, Valle Miguélez, who highlighted that the Region of Murcia has “talent, capacity and a prepared productive fabric” and He advocated alliances between public and private entities, “in order to face this globalized world.”
Collaboration agreement
The ‘In-depth digitization’ forum was the setting chosen by the Isaac Peral Foundation and the Fremm to sign their collaboration agreement. During the act, the presidents of both entities, Alfonso Corbalán and Alfonso Hernández, respectively, pointed out this alliance as a way to spread new ideas and promote open innovation in the Region of Murcia so that the transfer of knowledge is encouraged, a gateway to new talent.
