Dredgethe acclaimed indie game that mixes fishing and horror, will become a live-action film thanks to the partnership established by the developers of Black Salt Games and Story Kitchen.
According to the first official details, the film will be some sort of “The Sixth Sense on the water”which will mix the horror of Lovecraft and Hemingway.
“We are thrilled to partner with such an experienced studio team to bring the world we have created into live action and ignite the imaginations of audiences around the world,” Black Salt Games said in a statement.
“Dredge is a fascinating, disturbing and deeply rich story that completely captivated us from the beginning!” added Story Kitchen.
For the moment, no further details have been revealed, such as the release period and cast, so we just have to wait. It is interesting to note that this is not the first small or big screen project linked to video games by Story Kitchen: the production studio is in fact also working on an animated series of Vampire Survivors, as well as on the small screen adaptations of Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell in production at Netflix, Toejam & Earl and Sega's Streets of Rage, respectively, made for Amazon and Lionsgate, and It Takes Two for Amazon.
What is Dredge
For those unfamiliar, Dredge is a fishing game that follows a fisherman who travels to the coastal town of Greater Marrow for work. Between fishing trips, players will soon begin to notice strange phenomena, especially at night, such as ghost ships and sea monsters.
Despite the thrilling atmosphere, the player must gain courage and set off on increasingly dangerous fishing trips, with the possibility of upgrading the motorized boat and equipment thanks to the money pocketed by selling one's catches.
