The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli was the scene this weekend of the last stage of the Italian Amateur Trophy, but soon the final round of the season turned into a nightmare. 2022 had the worst ending that could have happened, because in the 600 Pro class race a multiple accident cost one rider his life, while another is in serious condition.
Federico Esposto, 27 years old from Rome, did not make it and died today following a very serious accident in the race. Marco Sciutteri, the other pilot involved, was transported by helicopter to the Bufalini hospital in Cesena in critical condition.
The dynamics of the accident are unknown, which unfortunately brings us back to the harsh reality of motorsport. Obviously, following the incident, today’s event, which counted the presence of over 360 pilots engaged in various national classes, was interrupted in advance and the races were canceled as a sign of respect.
The entire Motorsport.com editorial team gathers around Federico Esposto’s family, friends and team and wishes Marco Sciutteri a speedy recovery.
