“The European Council agrees that the sixth package of sanctions against Russia will cover crude oil, as well as petroleum products, supplied by Russia to member states, with the temporary exception of pipeline-delivered crude oil,” the latest draft of the summit decision, seen by Reuters, said.
“Therefore, the European Council urges the preparation and approval of the final version without delay, ensuring fair competition and equal opportunities in the EU single market, and solidarity among member states in the event of a sudden stop in supplies,” the draft also stated.
The draft added that the 27 member states of the union will “resolve the issue of the temporary exemption for crude oil transported through the pipeline as soon as possible.”
