The Dr Disrespectwell-known streamer currently active on YouTube, is under attack for listing deli NFT for his company’s first game, Midnight Society, which practically doesn’t exist yet. Many saw it as a kind of scam attempt, not too veiled.
Basic users can purchase a Founder Pass NFT for an undeveloped game, obtaining none other than the right to vote on some decisions that will be taken during development, as well as the possibility of participating in some events organized by the studio (let’s imagine virtual).
It must be said that the purchase will also entitle you to download the builds of the game in early access, but since it doesn’t even have a definitive title for now (the working name is Project Moon), it’s really an investment in trust. Founder Passes are priced at $ 50 and a total of 10,000 have been offered for sale.
Obviously, Dr Disrespect was overwhelmed by criticism for this initiative, including the decidedly ferocious one of Rami Ismail, who wrote on Twitter: “Sorry, but the urinal room man (it’s a reference to an old incident that occurred during a past E3, in which Dr Disrespect was banned for filming a public bathroom Ed.) is developing an NFT video game where you buy the right to vote on the developing meta economy, and I need to verify that I am in a real timeline.“
Overwhelmed by criticism, Dr Disrespect clarified that NFTs are not and will not be necessary to play and that “Project Moon” will not have pay-to-win features.
