Dr Disrespect is back to live streaming on YouTube and immediately went on the attack, declaring that Twitch’s lifetime ban against him was allegedly the result of a conspiracy by the platform’s staff.
If you recall, in June some Twitch employees revealed the reason behind Dr Disrespect’s lifetime ban from Twitch: sending erotic messages to a minor using the site’s Whispers function. With the outbreak of controversy, Guy Beahm, this is the doctor’s real name, confirmed the accusations, but tried to downplay them in some way.
Beahm was then fired from his development studio and lost a lot of work opportunities. After a period of hiatus he seems to be back stronger than ever.
On September 6th he went live on YouTube in a stream titled “THE TRUTH” for play Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and tell his side of the story again.
Charges and counter-charges
“We have never exchanged explicit texts or images” explained about his relationship with the minor, effectively denying what he had previously confirmed. He then said that he had returned to streaming “to a certain extent” and that he would try to apply for a YouTube partnership on September 25. He then criticized former Twitch employee Cody Conners for bringing the allegations against him to light, claiming that he had no firsthand knowledge of the incident.
“Apparently, some angry former Twitch employees felt they didn’t have to follow through on certain obligations. Former Twitch employee Cody Conners was not directly involved in the events he reported. Years later. Cody, why do that? What was the point? It was all handled professionally. And you, knowing how polarized the internet isyou made up your mind, you fucking sewer rat, you spilled the fucking beans about why Twitch banned me.”
“I never intended to meet this person, ever. We never planned to meet at TwitchCon or anywhere else.. We have never met in person, ever. Your false accusations have also given courage to other Twitch employees to make up lies. I suspect that you all planned and coordinated this attack. The Twitch team has admitted internally that the messages were not sexting. [Non abbiamo] never exchanged explicit texts and images.”
Dr Disrespect then accused Twitch of wanting revenge against himclaiming to have been the face of the platform, which never loved him. He then accused one of his former managers of wanting to have him banned. It seems that it was him who pushed the minor to report the messages, even if she didn’t want to.
According to Dr Disrespect, although no issues were found with the messages, it was his former manager who reported them to a friend on Twitch’s control team, who then took excerpts of the text out of context and discussed the situation with an analyst who was on vacation and didn’t have access to the files.
“This way you can make anyone’s messages seem inappropriate even when they’re not. In less than an hour, this analyst and his director made the decision to suspend me from Twitch.”
