Motorists from the Local Police accompany the truckers in their protest over the price of fuel to minimize inconvenience and so far there has been no incident
Dozens of trucks circulate sounding their horns from 8:00 this Friday morning along the Paseo de Alfonso XIII and the Alameda de San Antón de Cartagena. The protest, during which the heavy vehicles march at a very slow speed, is part of the mobilizations of the transport sector called at the national level to demand that the central government take measures against the rise in fuel prices.
Motorists from the Local Police and patrols from the National Police accompany the truckers to minimize the inconvenience they cause and so far there has been no incident. The route continues through Jorge Juan, Ronda Ciudad de La Unión and Esparta, to rejoin the Paseo de Alfonso XIII and start again, also leaving traffic jams in the surrounding streets. At the entrance of the schools, the noise was deafening and many children, from the age of three, covered their ears. The transporters did not stop in their noise or when they passed right in front of the centers.
Sources close to the transport sector indicated that the conveners’ plans also involve traveling in a caravan through the main industrial hubs of the municipality, such as Valle de Escombreras.
After two hours of blockade in the urban area of Cartagena, the truck drivers slowed down the traffic entering the Valle de Escombreras with a slow march along the CT 34 highway. A large number of the civil guard guaranteed the passage of transport to this area, through the CT-34 roundabout, which gives access to sector eight of the industrial valley, where the CLH factory is located. The agents keep the pickets that are concentrated at that intersection under control. There, the truckers who came to follow up on the call turned around and headed out of the Valle de Escombreras.
