In Upper Bavaria, a coach overturns on the way to a skiing holiday. Dozens of people are injured, eleven of them seriously.
Inzell – Dozens of people were injured in the accident of a coach on Saturday morning in Upper Bavaria – eleven of them seriously. Several of those affected were taken to hospitals in the area by helicopter, according to the fire brigade and police. Nobody was killed.
The bus with a total of 61 people – including young people – turned over around 7.30 a.m. on the federal road 305 at the outskirts of Inzell (Traunstein district). In addition to the eleven seriously injured, the fire brigade counted 21 people with minor to moderate injuries who were also taken to hospitals. 29 people were not injured or only minimally injured.
The bus company concerned comes from North Rhine-Westphalia, but it was initially unclear whether the passengers came from there. According to the fire brigade, the bus was on the way to a skiing holiday in Kaprun. Some of those affected were cared for in a nearby ice rink.
Based on the traces on site and initial interviews, the police assume that the bus left the road without any outside involvement and toppled down an embankment several meters high to the right. There he lay on his side. The investigations were still ongoing.
According to the fire department, hundreds of rescue workers from the region and six helicopters were on site. The federal highway was completely closed. Heavy equipment was brought in to salvage the bus. dpa
