The Mexican cooperative Turkey Down, dedicated to the commercialization of Turkey meat on Mexico City, is part of the 222 thousand work centers benefited by the federal program Young People Building the Future, which will be relaunched today by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS).
Gabriela mendoza, CEO of Turkey Down, he commented in an interview for MILLENNIUM that this program helps you increase both your value chain as well as your workforce.
“Turkey Down It is made up of 28 collaborators, 11 young people with disabilities who are within the cooperative (…) young people with disabilities where they do the entire aging process, transform the product, pack, label and even accompany us to the sale as well, “he explained.
According to figures from the Secretary of Labor, so far one million 200 thousand young mexicans are in this program and have been able to link micro, small and medium-sized companies in Mexico.
This year the agency aims to add 500 thousand young people nationwide in any of the work centers, so that each of them can, in addition to finding a job, have an approach with a financial instrument, acquire work experience, skills and competencies valued by the employers.
In this sense, Gabriela Mendoza iindicated that for this 2021 Turkey Down It contemplates adding 32 new kids with a disability, who will be helping in the expansion plans of the cooperative.
“We are opening a new project to integrate 32 young that they are even already on the waiting list; We are going to train these 32 young people – we want to make 2 for each mayor’s office – and make them part of the points of sale that we want to launch in Mexico City“, he detailed.
He explained that this expansion plan also responds to the need to sell their food productss inside the Mexican republic; Well, for now there are still limitations both in production, transformation and retail sales in the capital of the country.
They ask for continuity
Gabriela mendoza requested to give continuity to the federal program of the Secretary of Labor, because young people with disabilities have formed a fundamental part for the growth of the cooperative, also because they have given a job opportunity to a vulnerable segment of the population.
“This program has kept us alive, that’s the reality. Having the young people we have has not promoted much, that is our strength, “he said..
