Pabón, who has played during his career in clubs in Italy, Spain, Brazil and Mexico, made the decision to separate from the Medellín institution five days after the elimination of the Copa Libertadores in the previous phase when they were defeated 4-0 in the overall by the Paraguayan Nacional.
“I came to win titles and I accomplished it. Now I'm leaving through the big door,” said 'Memín', as he is known, to announce his goodbye after hostile days, amid complaints from the fans and reports of threats by the managers.
“This decision has not been easy. I had thought a lot about this decision, but that is now part of football and life. Until now I have seen the Nacional shirt for personal reasons, for myself, for peace of mind. I think I have already fulfilled a cycle in Nacional and I want to leave that like that,” declared Pabón.
The experienced forward, after nine years in international football, returned in July 2021 to Atlético Nacional, an institution with which he won two Colombian leagues (2011-I and 2022-I), two Colombia Cup titles (2021 and 2023). and a Super League (2023), in addition to scoring 79 goals.
Regarding his future, the now former Green player did not close the door on the possibility of continuing his career at another club. “I'm going to prepare well to see if I continue playing or not. But at this moment I want to be calm and enjoy my family,” added the attacker.
