Next year Netflix will be offering video games as part of your current subscription. It seems that the company is taking this new plan seriously, since it was only recently that they bought from Night School Studio, team responsible for Oxenfree. However, do not expect that they will be constantly acquiring studies.
During a financial meeting this week, Gregory peters, CFO of Netflix, set expectations about what we can expect from the company in terms of studio acquisitions:
“We will only do it when the opportunity presents itself. Don’t expect us to constantly buy studios. This will be one of the tools we will use, and we will only use it when we see a great opportunity out there. “
On the other hand, Spencer wang, vice president of finance, added the following:
“They know that we are quite selective when it comes to acquisitions. But as Greg said, if an opportunity presents itself, and if our values align with those of another company, then that is an opportunity that we are not going to waste. “
So there you have it Netflix It will only buy studios when the opportunity is right. Will they also make large acquisitions or will they only be limited to small studios?
Editor’s note: It was to be expected that, contrary to Sony and Microsoft, Netflix was to take things more calmly. Let us remember that the giant of streaming They will start offering mobile games via their new subscription model to test this market, and if they do well, then they could start introducing much bigger things.
