Former President and current Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trump, said on Monday, September 2, that he wants to be “the protector” of women after an attempt to attract the female vote during a rally in the key state of Pennsylvania.
According to the criteria of
I always thought that women liked him, I never thought he had a problem with them.
“I always thought he was into women, I never thought he had a problem with them,” said the Republican, who is currently trailing Vice President Kamala Harris in polls among this demographic.
“I want to be his protector. As president, I have to be his protector.”said the candidate, who in 2023 was found guilty of sexually abusing and defaming writer E. Jean Carroll.
What issues did Trump address regarding women?
Trump suggested in his speech that his policies on immigration and the economy would make women “safer,” after saying that they were “poorer,” “less healthy” and “less safe on the streets than they were four years ago.”
On the issue of abortion, one of the key points of these elections and in particular for this sector of the population, the candidate said that, if he wins, women “will no longer think about abortion” because of how “happy, healthy, confident and free” they will be.
Harris has promised to protect abortion with a federal law during her campaignwhile Trump has said he believes in exceptions to abortion restrictions in cases of rape, incest and danger to the mother’s life.
At the meeting, Trump also reiterated his position on the deportation of migrants referring to cities like Springfield, Ohio, whose Haitian population has been severely stigmatized by the former president’s false statements.
“The fact is, and I’ll say it now, they have to be removed from here. They have to be removed,” the tycoon said.
