Donald Trump: between electoral majority and social minority

In practically all democratically constituted states, the electoral majority is almost always simultaneously a social minority. There are always more members of the electoral body who have not voted for the party that forms the government than those who have voted for it.

In the electoral history of Spanish democracy, only in 1982 did the electoral majority approach the condition of social majority. The PSOE led by Felipe González obtained 48% of the votes validly cast. In none of the subsequent elections has any party come close to the result of ’82.
